Often finding a new career is a daunting task and many displaced workers are unequipped to deal with modern job searching. Many of the following apply:
- Remorse that more time was not spent on developing business networks
- No résumé or an outdated and old fashioned résumé
- Lack of understanding of modern techniques to find an exciting role
- Poor on-line presence, in particular social networking sites
- Lack of understanding or objective evidence of talents and hidden talents which have emerged from job experience over the last few years
- Frustration with recruiters, many who are much younger than the displaced person
- Nervousness and/or poor performance in modern behavioural interviewing
- Difficulty with the number of modern interviews that may number between 5-10 and suddenly falling out at later stages
