Goal

To raise individual, team and business performance by, going “under the covers”, exploring skills, talents and the disposition to use them to advantage.

Background

Job performance like sports performance is an equation of skills and talents. Skills can be learned, honed and improved however it’s all about the timeframe. Talent is a natural ability and disposition to do something. Talents often are hidden and many only discovered later in life.

Imagine if your favourite sports team worked like most average organisations where 36% of corporate workers are engaged at work – connected to their work and using their skills and talents to the benefit of themselves, the team and business. 22% are disengaged and spreading their discontent. The middle 42% are just putting in time wishing for leadership or another job or place where they could apply their talents. While these ratios vary from company to company they exist in some form in your organisation and present an opportunity to lift performance.

Sometimes individuals struggle with their performance and SMARTFORCE looks under the sheets to find out what’s going wrong. Job Capability Analysis looks at the skills of the individual and asks the question “Can they do the job?” and if not, what training or mentoring is required to raise performance.

A second step, Talent and Motivation Analysis looks at natural abilities and motivations to perform at an optimal level, asking the question “should they do the job?” and if not, where can they be redeployed or the role tuned to better use their talents.
